Athens State University
Athens State University is thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for students planning to major in STEM programs - The ASSIST Scholarship Program.
Through ASSIST, students could receive scholarships for tuition, books, housing, or transportation. In addition, ASSIST will also provide various additional methods of support and resources to help STEM majors succeed.

The University of Alabama (UA)
The University of Alabama is providing a Presidential Scholarship to an outstanding
student transferring to UA from Wallace State Community College. This UA Presidential
Scholarship covers the cost of in-state tuition for four semesters, provided the student
adhere to their stewardship requirements. The current value of this scholarship will
adjust as the cost of tuition increases.

In order to apply, the student must meet the following criteria:
- The student must have earned and graduated with an associate degree from Wallace State prior to entering UA for the fall 2025.
- The student must have maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and have 45 hours of completed coursework.
- The student must be admitted and submit a transfer scholarship application to UA by March 3
- The student cannot be a former degree seeking student from UA or any other 4-year institution.
Deadline: The UA Presidential Transfer Scholarship Application packet must be delivered to the WSCC Financial Aid Office by the close of business on Friday, February 3, 2025.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)
The scholarship will provide $6,000 per semester for four semesters (fall and spring only; $12,000 per academic year) and is renewable annually for two years provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA.
The following areas will be considered when selecting the nominees: professionalism,
communication skills, passion & enthusiasm, and the desire to help other students,
as recipients may be asked to participate in campus events to serve as a transfer
representative for UAB,. Event examples include: student panels, campus tours, community
college visits, Transfer Day at UAB.

To qualify, the students must meet the following criteria:
- The student must apply and be admitted as a transfer student to UAB for the upcoming fall term by February 18. High school students who are enrolled in a fast-track or dual-enrollment program are not elibible.
- The student must have earned a minimum of 45 transferable credit hours by the February 18 deadline. An official transcript must be provided to UAB showing fall grades
- The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (non-transferrable coursework will not be calculated in the GPA).
- The student cannot have any 4-year institution credit (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school).
- The student cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB.
- Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to receive this award.
- Please submit your UAB Presidential Scholarship Application packet to include: Cover letter to Wallace State Community College President, Dr. Vicki Karolewics, requesting consideration for the award. WSCC Transcript (unofficial is acceptable). Two letters of reference. Resume- to include activities, community service, work experience, honors and awards.
Deadline: Application packet must be delivered to the WSCC Financial Aid Office by the close of business on February 3, 2025.
Troy University
Troy University is providing a Presidential Scholarship to an outstanding student
transferring to Troy from Wallace State Community College. This Troy Presidential
Scholarship will adjust as the cost of tuition increases.

In order to apply, the student must meet the following criteria:
- Each student must be an Alabama resident
- Have completed at least 45 transferable credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.5
- The student must maintain full-time enrollment status and an institutional (TROY) GPA of 3.0.
This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University.
